Disputes and Consumer Statements


ChexSystems Consumer Relations department can assist you if you believe your file contains errors. Please have a copy of your consumer report on hand when disputing information. (For instructions on how to obtain your consumer report, click here.)

If necessary, upon receipt of your dispute, we will notify the source and request that they investigate the accuracy and completeness of the information they reported. Under normal circumstances, we will notify you of the results within approximately 30 days (21 days for residents of Maine). If errors are identified, they will be rectified immediately.

If you would like to dispute any item of information in your consumer file, please complete the Request for Reinvestigation form and submit your dispute in writing to:

Consumer Statements

If the investigation does not resolve your dispute, you are entitled to add a brief statement to your consumer file outlining the nature of your dispute. If you would like to add a consumer statement to your file, please complete the Request for Consumer Statement form and send the statement to us in writing to:
